I’m Alyse, and I grew up in the woods in Ohio and spent a lot of time outside amongst the trees as a kid. I found my way into making, originally through sewing, went on to study fashion and textiles in college, and then moved to New York City and eventually to Los Angeles prior to my arrival at the Krenov School. I’ve always appreciated traditional craft and handmade objects – pieces which are unique by the hand and the eye of the maker. I’m interested in redrawing connections with everyday objects, how we interact with them, with one another, and with the earth. I feel so lucky to be among this community of wonderfully dedicated teachers and peers.
