Beatrix Baker

I’m from England and London has been my home for the last few years. In my varied career as a woodworker I have made and sold my own bentwood products, assisted with the creation of steam-bent public art, and most recently worked for an artisan Globemaker in London creating modern and traditional tables for globes.
Three years ago a friend told me about the Krenov School. The kernels of information I gleaned from afar about Krenov’s philosophy and the ethos of the school resonated strongly with me and motivated me to apply. I’ve been seeking a way of working with wood which leaves space for creativity and discovery whilst maintaining the discipline of craftsmanship and I think I may have found that here. Its been quite a leap to come to Fort Bragg but I’ve learnt a huge amount already and am excited to start making some personal pieces of furniture.
