I arrived at the Krenov School from Nevada City, trading rivers for ocean, and oaks for redwoods. My background is in fine art, mostly sculpture, and I pursued an MFA, teaching, and exhibiting art in the Bay Area.
In the past few years, my desire to create functional objects in harmony with natural materials has led me to pursue the craft of furniture. Working for a few shops in Nevada City and participating in the whole process from living tree to milled lumber to finished furniture radically changed my relationship to the medium. I look forward to my time here learning a subtle new language of hand tools and joinery that binds together the dynamic characteristics of wood in new forms.
It is a true gift to have the guidance and support of talented instructors and classmates while connecting to the tradition of the craft. And if there is a moment to spare from this microcosmic pursuit, you can catch me on my bike connecting faint map lines deep in the forest.
