Summer Workshop Registration

The following is information about registering for our summer workshop programs. If you have any additional questions please contact us at woodshop@mcn.org or 707-964-7056.

How to Register

In order to register for WOD70a(Tools and Techniques)and WOD70B(Small Projects) classes you must first become a student of Mendocino College. Please go to https://www.mendocino.edu/enrollment-services/admissions/apply-mendocino-college and follow their instructions. Once you are a student, you can then sign up for these courses.

We occasionally also offer a non credit course or two to fill out the summer calendar. These are handled through the Community Extension office. You can register for these courses without becoming a college student. Go here for admissions to those courses:  https://www.mendocino.edu/student-life/activities/workshops

Our summer courses will be listed in the summer class schedule https://www.mendocino.edu/admissions-aid/registration/class-schedule under Coast Center. Mendocino College will post their summer classes here in March of each year. Go to the Coast Center section to find the woodworking classes.

If you are plan to take WOD-70B (Small Projects), it is required that you have first completed WOD-70A (Tools and Techniques). People have requested before that they would like to skip that class, but we have found that does not work well for the student nor us. Many of you may have taken T&T with us while we were with College of the Redwoods. If so, you will need to fill out a Prerequisite Challenge Form, and provide some proof that you took the class. (We can help vouch for you if you do not have any receipts or documentation.) This may seem a bit cumbersome, but this is the price for now having the class be for credit and much less expensive.

To register for our class go here https://www.mendocino.edu/admissions-aid/registration for instructions.

If you have any trouble registering please contact the admissions office at registration@mendocino.edu  or 707-468-3101.

Registration for summer classes are handled on a first come, first served basis. You may register via the admissions website above,  or in person at the Coast Center here in Fort Bragg, CA at 1211 Del Mar Dr, Fort Bragg, CA 95437. Registrations will not be accepted at the woodworking facility. If you have any questions as to how to register, you may call the Coast Center at 707-961-2200. They should be able to help you work through it.

Due the popularity of our summer courses, many students that gain admittance have gone through the tedious steps of getting priority status, allowing them the register as early as possible. If you want the best chance of getting a spot, it is advisable to obtain priority status. Go here for details about priority registration https://www.mendocino.edu/admissions-aid/registration/priority-registration.  If you have questions about applying or obtaining priority status, please contact the admissions office at registration@mendocino.edu  or 707-468-3101.

Registration Deadlines

Mendocino College will publish their summer class schedule in March of each year.

Priority registration opens at 8am on April TBD, 2024. This is for continuing Mendocino College students in good standing and new students who satisfy several entrance requirements https://www.mendocino.edu/admissions-aid/registration/priority-registration. Due to the high demand of our summer courses, many students go through this tedious process of gaining priority status. It takes effort, but it does get you into registering a few days ahead of others.

Open registration for summer workshops normally begins in the latter half of April.  Please go to https://www.mendocino.edu/admissions-aid/registration/dates-deadlines for accurate date information, and for more information on gaining priority status contact the admissions office at https://www.mendocino.edu/admissions

Official registration information can be found at https://www.mendocino.edu/admissions-aid

We recommend that you get yourself admitted as a student as early as possible so that registration goes smoothly. Remember, the workshops can fill early, so register early to secure a spot!

International Students

At this time, Mendocino College is not able to issue I-20 visas to a students wishing to participate solely in the summer workshops. However international students that are already in country may be eligible to enroll in the course(s). Please contact Anastasia Simpson-Logg at asimpson@mendocino.edu or 707-468-3102 if you have questions regarding eligibility.

Acceptance Process

Successful applicants will be notified by email once their registration is completed. The bench spaces are filled as applications are received.  If we do not have a minimum number of students in attendance on the first day of class, the course can be canceled (as required by the college administration). While there is no way to foresee complications that might require you to withdraw from the class, please do not apply for the course unless you definitely plan to attend. If you must cancel, please inform us as soon as possible. The demand for some classes has historically exceeded capacity.
